How do I track which deals came through partner introductions?

Track partner introductions by recording the partner company, individual connector, recipient, date and associated account, then linking the action to any resulting opportunity. Define partner-sourced and partner-influenced consistently. A free-text note alone is fragile, and a partner introduction into an existing deal should not automatically receive full sourcing credit.

Create an introduction record

Include stable person and account identifiers, the relationship owner, introduction status and evidence. Associate the record with a CRM opportunity when one exists. Preserve the connector separately from the partner organisation.

Track the workflow

Record request, approval, introduction sent, buyer response, meeting held and qualification. This helps distinguish poor partner access from unfinished coordination or weak buyer relevance.

Apply credit rules

Agree definitions across sales and partnerships before reviewing results. A first introduction may source the opportunity; a later introduction may add an evaluator or unblock a discussion. Record the actual contribution.

Avoid duplicate counts when several partners or touches support one deal. Revenue reporting may use a different model from operational contribution reporting.

Give useful feedback

Share appropriate outcomes with the partner owner and connector. Track reciprocity and repeated requests without exposing confidential buyer information.
