How do I map the org chart of an existing customer?

Map an existing customer's organisation around the decisions you need to understand: renewal, adoption, expansion or a specific project. Combine approved account conversations with source-backed research. Record reporting lines, responsibilities and professional influence separately; titles alone do not identify buying authority, and a complete chart is unnecessary if the team cannot maintain it.

Start with people you know

Work with the customer success and account teams to identify current sponsors, users and project owners. Ask the customer who owns related outcomes and which teams should participate in the next discussion.

Research the gaps

Use current company information and professional profiles to identify possible additional stakeholders. Validate reporting lines and roles through the customer rather than presenting public research as a confirmed internal structure.

Add influence and access

Record who advises the decision, who has concerns and which company colleagues or partners have genuine relationships. Keep inferred connections marked as such.

Use the map for a defined action

For renewal, examine dependence on one champion and unresolved value questions. For expansion, identify a relevant business problem in another team and ask for a useful introduction.

Orbb can support people research and possible relationship paths. The customer and account team provide the validation that turns the map into a workable plan.

Keep ownership, evidence dates and next steps visible so the chart remains useful as people and projects change.
