Do customer introductions from VCs actually convert?

VC introductions can convert when the investor genuinely knows a relevant buyer and the proposed conversation fits that buyer's needs. Portfolio affiliation alone does not guarantee trust, access or purchasing intent. Evaluate investor-sourced introductions through the same qualification and outcome standards as other channels, with the connector and relationship evidence recorded.

Separate affiliation from a usable route

A fund may invest in a company without the partner knowing the operational buyer. Board roles, prior operating experience and a confirmed personal connection can suggest stronger routes, but the investor should validate them.

Make the request specific

Name the person, explain why the conversation is relevant and provide a short forwardable note. Ask whether the investor is comfortable introducing you. Do not request access to their whole portfolio or imply that investment creates an obligation to help.

Qualify the result

Track introductions sent, buyer responses, meetings held and opportunities accepted. Check whether the meeting reaches an appropriate stakeholder with a real problem. A polite conversation arranged as a favour is not automatically pipeline.

Compare against similar accounts and deal stages before claiming higher conversion than other channels. There is no universal VC introduction benchmark.

Close the feedback loop

Thank the investor and share an appropriate outcome update. Avoid giving them sensitive buyer information without permission. Orbb can support target research and introduction coordination, while the investor retains control over the professional relationship.
