How do I pick the right city and account list for a field marketing dinner?

Choose a dinner location by the concentration of relevant, realistically available guests, then build the account list around the event's objective and topic. Relationship coverage is useful but should sit alongside account fit, travel patterns and audience interest. A city with many targets is not automatically recruitable, and easy access alone does not make a guest suitable.

Compare plausible locations

Review target-person locations, customer and partner presence, relevant conferences, scheduling conflicts and travel effort. Company headquarters may not be where the people you want actually work.

Test audience interest and access

Identify suitable guests and possible invitation routes. Ask account teams and customer owners whether the timing and discussion are relevant. Validate personal connections rather than counting all shared affiliations as usable access.

Build a coherent room

Select guests by responsibilities and the peer conversation they can contribute to. Balance prospect and customer participation, and consider competitive or confidentiality concerns.

A slightly smaller market can be attractive when guest fit and recruitment are stronger, but there is no universal rule that relationship density always outweighs market size.

Commit in stages

Confirm enough evidence of likely attendance before making large non-refundable commitments. Name recruitment and follow-up owners and maintain an accurate status list.
