How it works

How is customer advocacy different from customer network activation?

Customer advocacy includes references, stories, community participation and other support from willing customers. Network activation focuses on appropriate introductions or invitations through their professional relationships. The activities can complement each other, but require different asks and measurement. A willing reference is not automatically a willing connector, and neither programme should compromise the customer experience.

Choose the customer action

A reference helps an existing buyer evaluate your product. A case study makes approved evidence public. An introduction opens a potential new conversation. An event invitation may bring a relevant peer into a useful discussion.

Each action has different permissions and demands on the customer.

Coordinate across teams

Customer marketing, customer success, sales and field marketing should share context about requests. Otherwise a customer may receive several independent asks in the same week.

Report contribution accurately

Track introductions through meetings and opportunities. Track references and other advocacy against their own objectives and relevant deal influence. Avoid assigning the same opportunity multiple full sourcing credits.

Where Orbb fits

Orbb's Referral Agent and Events Agent are relevant to relationship-led introductions and invitations. They do not automatically replace case study production, reference management or a customer community.

Use network activation where a specific target and genuine connection exist. Preserve other forms of advocacy for customers who can contribute value without opening their professional networks.
